Osh riot participant gets 23-year sentence

OSH -- An Osh court has sentenced a participant in the June ethnic riots to 23 years in prison, AKIpress.org reported September 7.
The court found Zhakhangir Bazarov guilty of helping beat Birdik resident Kubanychbek Umarov to death June 12. It determined he acted from ethnic hostility. Authorities are searching for Bazarov's accomplices.
In other news, Kyrgyz authorities released former Bishkek mayor Nariman Tyuleyev, 24.kg reported, quoting Tyuleyev defence attorney Sultan Barotov.
Authorities detained and questioned Tyuleyev September 6 on charges of committing economic crimes and helping foment disorder in Bishkek. Tyuleyev intends to prove his innocence, Barotov said.
