NOWSHERA The world must help Pakistan rebuild homes and businesses destroyed by floods to win hearts and minds in the militant-hit nation, Ajay Chhibber, head of the UNDP, Asia Pacific region, said.

He called helping flood victims in Pakistan important, saying that unrest there will have much greater implications for regional and global stability, media reported during his visit to Nowshera September 6.

An initial UN relief appeal brought in nearly 64% of the requested funds and a second appeal will begin September 17, Chhibber said.
