KABUL – The World Health Organisation, UNICEF and Afghan Public Health Ministry plan to vaccinate 1.5m Afghan children under age 5 in Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan and Balkh provinces in a three-day campaign starting September 5, the UN said in a statement September 2.

The vaccination drive comes after doctors detected a polio case in Kunduz province, the first in Afghanistan's north in ten years, UNICEF spokesman Peter Crowley said.
