OSCE official to confer with Bishkek about police deployment

VIENNA – Ambassador Herbert Salber, director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, will visit Bishkek next week to discuss the planned deployment of 52 OSCE international police in southern Kyrgyzstan, he said in a September 1 statement.

The OSCE is prepared to deploy the group “at a moment’s notice,” he said in his statement. “We have waited for a response from the (Kyrgyz) Government … "I will be in Bishkek next week to meet with Government officials to discuss the Memorandum of Understanding.”
