ASTANA -- More than 1m Kazakhstanis have signed a petition demanding the dissolution of the one-party parliament and resignation of the government, the opposition Social-Democratic Party said July 13, according to media reports.

The party decided at its 6th congress to circulate the petition, which also calls for economic reforms. The Social-Democratic party plans to keep collecting signatures.

Kazakhstan's population is 16m.
