Punjab sets up high-level anti-terrorism board

LAHORE – The Punjab government has created an anti-terrorism board to develop a security strategy for sensitive areas in the province and to monitor terrorist activities, media reported July 13.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif heads the board, which also includes the provincial law minister, the home and chief secretaries, the secretary prosecution, the provincial police chief and two members of the provincial assembly, Express Tribune reported.
A board committee will share information with the relevant departments, and the chief secretary will work to improve policing and lead a media campaign to raise public awareness of subversive elements, media reported.
