Kazakh president’s son-in-law, daughter on Forbes’ billionaire list

NEW YORK –Forbes magazine has included relatives of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in its annual list of the world’s richest people published March 10.

Tied for 880th on the list are Nazarbaev’s son-in-law Timur Kulibayev and daughter Dinara Kulibayeva. The magazine gives their net worth as US $1.1 billion.

Several other Kazakhs made the list: copper tycoon Vladimir Kim (247th place, US $3.7 billion), mining baron Alidzhan Ibragimov (287th, US $3.3 billion), and banker Nurzhan Subkhanberdin (tied for 880th with Kulibaev and Kulibaeva). No other Central Asian country was represented.

In first place is Mexican telecom executive Carlos Slim (US $53.5 billion).
