Bishkek mayor objects to planned March 17 opposition rally

BISHKEK – Bishkek Mayor Nariman Tyuleev is objecting to opposition plans to hold a rally in the central Ala-Too square March 17, claiming the square is on a strategic road and unsuitable for public demonstrations, RIA-Novosti reported March 10.
Meanwhile, thousands of residents of Naryn gathered March 10 in a local stadium to demand a reduction in their heating and electric bills, regnum.ru reported March 10.
