DUSHANBE– The government of Tajikistan has named the foreign corporations that it will allow to bid for a chance to work the Bolshoi Koni Mansur silver mine.
British-Australian, Chinese, Swiss, Kazakh and Tajik firms appeared on the list but not the Russian Nornikel. Some attribute the omission to Tajik disenchantment with the Kremlin's refusal to offer significant economic assistance last year.
The government did not give the planned date for the tender. The Chinese are reportedly thought likeliest to win the tender.
