These days everyone can behold how street walls and public places are covered with posters and banners of candidates in Afghanistan’s presidential election. Are these posters and promises published everywhere helping to eliminate the agonies of our suffering people? How can we really trust these promises?
Election banners just touch on general issues. Nobody can see any candidate focusing his campaign on specific issues and coming up with a solution to real problems of the people. Promises, as usual, are only words, and not practical solutions.
Respectful candidates, you should not forget God above your heads, He who knows all your thoughts and concerns. Your failure in remembering Him will only bring you a heavy defeat. Only make promises that you can really fulfill. To avoid belittling yourselves before your conscience and before your oppressed people, give us some small promises, but real ones. Never forget your present situation and those who trust you.
And before going and casting our votes, we, as people, should also think properly and decide who is qualified and who is not, and who among the candidates is making realistic promises. I have not decided yet to vote, but I will give it a second thought.
I suggest that people follow the debates of their favorite candidates on TV seriously. They will gradually find those candidates who are loyal to their people.
My dear friends, your vote indicates your degree of trust in a certain candidate. That is why you should think properly before casting a vote. When you are casting your vote, no one other than you and your God will be present as you mark your ballot. Therefore, nobody can force your choice.
