BBC Urdu: Taliban leader Faqir Muhammad is alive

PESHAWAR -- The deputy chief of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Maulvi Faqir Muhammad, has called the BBC correspondent in Peshawar to assert that he was not killed in shelling as claimed by the Pakistani government the other day, BBC Urdu reported March 11.


Interior Minister Rehman Malik announced March 6 that Faqir Muhammad and his two close associates, Qari Ziaur Rehman and Fateh Muhammad, were killed in an attack on a house in Mohmand Agency.


According to BBC Urdu, Faqir Muhammad said he and his two other colleagues were living in Bajaur Agency.
